DULUTH, Minn. – Several shots were fired into a parked car in downtown Duluth last Friday, police say.
Duluth Police said they found “several spent cartridge casings” at the 100 block of East 1st Street when they responded to reports of a “ female shooting a handgun at an unoccupied tan vehicle,” last Friday. The female, later identified as Antoinette Louise Harris, 47, is accused of shooting her ex-boyfriend’s vehicle and fleeing the scene before being apprehended in Carlton County.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the scene at around 11:50 p.m. on Friday and found the vehicle with damaged windows and tires.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage of the area, which reportedly showed a white sedan park near the area at 11:26 p.m. and a woman walking towards the victim’s car with something in her hand. The woman, who police believe is Harris, then begins to shoot at the car while “pedestrians and vehicles can be seen on video in the area.”
The surveillance footage then reportedly showed Harris get back into her own vehicle and drive towards the highway before heading southbound on I-35.
St. Louis County deputies alerted other agencies to be on the lookout for Harris and her vehicle. At around 12:18 a.m., Carlton County deputies initiated a stop on Harris and took her into custody for allegedly driving while intoxicated. During an inventory search of the vehicle, Carlton County deputies reportedly found a 9mm handgun, which matched the type of shell casing found at the Duluth crime scene.
In the criminal complaint, police stated that Harris walked past several people with the firearm. Officers also pointed out that the Frances Skinner Apartment building was downrange from the shooting, putting occupants at risk. Harris is charged with three felony counts of recklessly discharging a firearm in a municipality, recklessly discharging a firearm that endangers safety, and first-degree property damage. She is also charged with a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree property damage for a bullet that ricocheted and struck a different vehicle. Harris could face a maximum possible sentence of just under 10 years in prison.
No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
