DULUTH, Minn. – A man is found with two guns in his car just a block away from the Duluth veterinary clinic he’s accused of harassing, Duluth Police say.
A man with two firearms in his car was arrested on Monday, just a block away from the Duluth veterinary clinic he’s accused of harassing. According to the criminal complaint, Remington Cain Dellinger, 28, of Virginia, is a former customer of North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Duluth, who showed up to the clinic on July 28 and said he wouldn’t leave until he “got what he wanted.”
Officers at the scene spoke with the clinic’s staff, who said Dellinger “arrived twice at the business that day in person, but he also emailed and called them.” Dellinger reportedly said he was looking for a specific staff member and that he “bears a cross for her and needed her to bear a cross for him.” Staff noted that he was “jiggling stuff around” in his pockets.
Police later learned that Dellinger had his dog treated at the clinic a year prior, and following the visit, he attempted to contact staff on Facebook. The complaint described an email one staff member received from Dellinger, “which said that he did not want to cause her any more discomfort, but that he believes he caused a ‘division’ between them and that all he wanted to accomplish was to help her.”
During Monday’s arrest, Dellinger told police he had a pistol underneath his seat but did not have a permit to carry in Minnesota. Along with the pistol, officers reported finding a rifle in the rear of the vehicle.
The clinic’s staff told police they could not sleep over “concerns about what would happen once [Dellinger] got out of jail.”
Dellinger was released from the St. Louis County Jail on Wednesday evening, after being charged with two gross misdemeanor counts of harassment and carrying a weapon without a permit.
