MEADOWLANDS, Minn. – Charges allege a man sexually abused his foster daughter, when she was placed in his care in 2020.
Michael Duane Fife, 48, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct for the abuse of his foster daughter when she was placed in his care in 2020. In a criminal complaint, the victim alleged that she was 12 years old when she spent around a month and a half with Fife and his wife at their Meadowlands home.
After the abuse was first reported to St. Louis County investigators, they met with the victim in April of this year. According to the victim, the abuse began shortly after she started staying with the Fifes in Dec. 2020. The victim said the abuse reached a point when “Michael punched her in the stomach,” which caused her to vomit. Investigators confirmed with Child Protective Services that the victim had been in Fife’s care at the time, and that “She was removed from the Fife home and placed with a different foster parent.”
The victim told investigators she left the Fife home because, “it got really bad.”
This new case comes just months after Fife pled guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct related to the 2024 abuse of a different foster daughter. Court documents in the 2024 case showed that the victim also recorded a call from Melissa Fife, Michael’s wife, “where Ms. Fife asked the Victim if this was really worth sending the Defendant to prison over, then shifts blame to the Victim stating, “And you’re going to sit by and just pretend you are innocent.”
